The last pic we took of our beautiful girls. Left to Right... Gloria, Blanche and Sophia. Superbowl Sunday we found the girls had been attacked. Not sure by what but they were all still alive. It was awful. After calling our Vet, we were advised to clean them up, keep them inside and if they made it through the night to bring to him the next morning. Sophia didn't make it. We took Gloria and Blanche the next day and the Vet was so good with them. Cleaned them really nice, gave them a pain shot and some meds and gave us instructions on the long recovery process that would await us. We didn't care. We were so thankful that we still had Blanche and Gloria. When I got to the Vet to pick them up, Blanche had just passed and by the time I got Gloria home, she had too. It felt devastating to us. We love our girls like we love our pups. They brought us so much joy. We have missed seeing them every day. We loved how they would run out to meet us when we pulled in and on these pretty days, they would have loved to be outside enjoying it. Almost 2 years that we got to experience and learn these girls. Here were some of our favorite things.... Gloria....she was the first bird I ever picked up. She didn't peck me. :) She would however peck at the garage door when she wanted food. I always thought that was hilarious. Blanche is a survivor. She protected her sweet babies against an attack when they were just days old. She was definitely at the top of the pecking order. We loved her coloring and temperament. Sophia, our biggest and oldest gal. A bit slower than the rest, always could make us laugh when she would try to run across the yard. Her wings out but just waddling. Plus, I mean, they were photogenic birds! Would make a rucus in the morning wanted to be let out to enjoy the day, always putting themselves to bed before dark. Our girls will be missed. Thankful they got to be ours for a while.
RIP girls!
